In a shocking turn of events, the brutal murder of Baba Siddique
, a well-known political figure in Maharashtra, has sparked widespread discussion.
Siddique, 66, was shot dead outside his son’s office in Bandra East on October 12th, during Dussehra celebrations. The incident, which has left the state in shock, took place just before 9:30 PM when three masked assailants fired at him using a 9.9mm pistol. Siddique was hit in the chest and stomach, and despite being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Baba Siddique’s political career spanned over four decades, during which he served as an MLA for three consecutive terms from 1999 to 2009. He held multiple key positions, including Minister of State for Food & Civil Supplies and Labour. He was initially a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) but later switched to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 2024, aligning himself with Ajit Pawar.
Now, a viral Facebook post has claimed that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is behind the attack. The post not only takes responsibility for the killing but also sends a chilling message to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. This revelation has raised serious questions about how Bishnoi, who is locked up in jail, continues to operate so effectively.
A Facebook post is now making the rounds, with the person claiming that Lawrence Bishnoi’s group orchestrated the murder of Baba Siddique. The post, allegedly from a member of Bishnoi’s gang, reads:
“Om Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bharat. I understand the essence of life, and I consider the body and wealth as mere dust. What was done was righteous, and the duty of friendship was upheld. Salman Khan, we did not want this fight, but you harmed our brother. Today, those who are praising Baba Siddique’s decency should remember that he was once involved with Dawood under the MCOCA Act. The reason for this death was to expose Anuj Thapan and the connection between Dawood, Bollywood, politics, and property dealings. We have no enmity with anyone, but whoever helps Salman Khan and the Dawood gang should be prepared to settle their accounts. If anyone harms any of our brothers, we will surely retaliate. We have never struck first. Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bharat. Salute to the martyrs. #LawrenceBishnoiGroup #AnmolBishnoi #AnkitBhaduSherewala.”
The post has left many wondering how someone incarcerated can operate such a powerful and dangerous network. The Mumbai Crime Branch is now investigating the authenticity of the post, although it was discovered that no official Facebook account exists for the person who shared the post. No official statement has been made by the authorities regarding the viral post.
Lawrence Bishnoi has been under scrutiny for some time now. The gangster has been linked to a series of high-profile crimes, including threats to Salman Khan. His gang’s ability to carry out attacks across the country, even while he is locked up, has baffled many.
Several netizens and prominent figures are questioning how Bishnoi manages to run his gang with such precision and power from behind bars. Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, in a post on X, raised critical concerns:
“Mumbai police suspect Lawrence Bishnoi’s hand in Baba Siddique’s killing. If the killers turn out to be from Bishnoi’s gang, the question remains: how is someone locked up in Tihar jail running a cross-country, transnational gang with such impunity? And if Baba had Y security protection and death threats, how did the killers strike so easily? Is Bishnoi the new ‘boss’ of the new generation gangland? Worrying.”
One user on X, Piyush Rai, pointed out: “Lawrence Bishnoi is unarguably the most mysterious and notorious gangster in contemporary times. For a man lodged in a Gujarat prison, he has not only been operating freely but also staying ahead of the country’s top law enforcing agencies in announcing his targets and going after them with ease. Is this possible without white-collar help?”
Another user, Prayag, questioned the government’s role in allowing Bishnoi’s gang to continue unchecked: “Lawrence Bishnoi takes responsibility for Baba Siddique’s killing. How can someone keep operating a gang from jail? The same name keeps coming up in celebrity murders. Is he above the system?
Baba Siddique, a respected leader with deep connections in both politics and Bollywood, is being remembered fondly by many. His funeral took place with full state honors at Bada Qabrastan in Marine Lines, Mumbai.
As investigations continue, two suspects have already been arrested in connection with the murder. Gurmel Baljeet Singh and Dharamraj Rajesh Kashyap, both allegedly linked to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, are in custody. According to Mumbai police, the two accused have been identified as Gurmail Singh, a native of Haryana, and Dharamraj Kashyap, from Uttar Pradesh, who were in Mumbai and were keeping a close eye on Siddique. The third and fourth accused in the case are Shiva from Bahraich (UP) and Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar respectively.
Family members of the arrested accused have said that they were not aware of what their sons were up to and had not been in contact with them.
While the police probe the case, the incident has raised serious concerns about the extent of Bishnoi’s influence, both inside and outside the prison.
