As the medical fraternity across the country is on war path protesting the rape and murder of their colleague in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, the father of the victim said all youngsters on the streets seeking justice to his late daughter are his children.
He extended his solidarity to the ongoing protests by the medical professionals. “All the people who are protesting on the streets are like my sons and daughters. My daughter has passed away but crores of children are standing with me now… All those who are protesting, we are with them,” he told the press in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas on Friday.
Resident doctors in several cities, including those in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat held protest marches condemning the incident.
The 31-year-old PG student was allegedly raped and murdered by a Kolkata Police civil volunteer attached to the RG Kar Medical College outpost. He was asleep at a seminar hall after watching Neeraj Chopra’s Olympic javelin event when she was attacked by the accused Sanjay Roy, 33. CCTV footage confirmed his presence in the building where the crime took place and a piece of his headphone was recovered from the scene. He reportedly confessed to having killed the doctor after sexually assaulting her.
The semi-nude body of the 31-year-old woman post-graduate trainee doctor , who was raped and murdered inside a seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was found on August 9 morning, sparking a nationwide outrage.
After initial investigation and examination of the CCTV cameras installed on the hospital premises, Kolkata Police arrested a civic volunteer, identified as Sanjay Roy, who later admitted to his crime. The accused, who was arrested in an intoxicated condition from outside the hospital, has been sent to police custody till August 23 and many high-ranking officials of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have been
suspended for negligence in the matter.
Sensational information came out in the autopsy report.
1) The post-mortem report claimed that there were deep wounds in the genitals.*
2) The anti-mortem stage is noticeable.
3) A profuse amount of bleeding was observed from the genitals. The hymen ruptures. Evidence of deep genital wounds was found.
3) 150 grams seeman sample have been sent to State Forensic Lab for further testing.
4) The young doctor was injured in the chest. suffocated by suffocation.
5) Torture marks were found on the thyroid, bones.
The doctor was killed by strangulation.
6) The accused had scratches on his hands and face.
7)Eye injuries occurred from broken glasses. The doctor resisted saving herself from Sanjay. The glass of the spectacles was broken in the violent clash. The glass broke and blood flowed from the eyes.
8) There are injuries to the back of the head and forehead. During the scuffle, the victim’s face was pinned against the wall to prevent her from screaming.
9) There are scratches on the face. The young woman’s face was held by force. The young woman was shaking. The girl’s face was bruised by Sanjay’s fingernails for applying force with great force.
10) The mouth and throat were constantly pressed to stop the screams. The young doctor died due to strangulation by strangulation.
According to the police, strong force was used on the victim by beating before the murder-rape. The post-mortem report indicated that. Sustained trauma due to perverted sexual desire and alcoholism. On the other hand, the accused Sanjay has scratches on his hands and face. The victim tried to save himself. According to police sources, the wound of his nails was found on the body of the accused.
.August 5-8: Sanjay Roy traveled to Salua in Kharagpur to attend a Police’s Welfare Society meeting. He stayed there from August 5 to August 8, claiming he was on duty as a civic assistant.
August 8, morning: Upon his return to Kolkata on the morning of August 8, Sanjay Roy first visited RG Kar Hospital, where he worked as a broker, to facilitate the admission of a patient. After ensuring the patient was admitted, he left the hospital but returned later that night.
August 8, night: At around 11 pm, Sanjay returned to RG Kar Hospital to assist the same patient with an X-ray. The patient’s family accompanied him during this time. After spending a few minutes with them, Sanjay left the hospital building.
August 9, early hours: Sanjay returned to the hospital again at around 1 am to help another patient whose surgery was scheduled. After assisting this patient, he remained on the hospital premises, where he consumed alcohol with one of the patient’s relatives behind the hospital building. He also provided financial assistance to the patient’s family and arranged an Uber bike for their journey home.
August 9, 3 am: At approximately 3 am, Sanjay went back to the third floor of the Chest Medicine building at the hospital. Within minutes, he entered the seminar hall where the lady doctor was resting. It was here that he allegedly raped and murdered her. Sanjay left the seminar hall after about 40-45 minutes.
August 9, 4:30 am: CCTV footage captured Sanjay leaving the hospital premises at around 4.37 am. He then returned to his barrack and went to sleep. Later that morning: The Kolkata Police, after reviewing the CCTV footage and observing his suspicious activities, detained Sanjay Roy from the barrack. He was brought back to the hospital for questioning.
August 9, evening: Following a prolonged interrogation, the police arrested Sanjay Roy, who now faces charges of rape and murder in connection with this crime.
